Director-association services, NAIFAJust prior to the NAIFA Annual Convention and Career Conference, the NAIFA Association Executives Advisory Council (AEAC) sponsored the Annual Association Executives Conference (AEC). The 2000 conference brought together 140 state and local executives from across the United States for an intense two-day training and education meeting on issues of association management, as well as specific programs and issues specific to the NAIFA federation.
The keynote speaker for the 2000 AEC was former NAIFA national staff member, Paul Meyer, CAE, who presented "Association Trends: What to Expect Today and Tomorrow." Meyer's talk was based on recently released association trend information collected by the American Society of Association Executives Foundation. Additionally, association executives heard from Robert C. Harris, CAE, of the Non-Profit Resource Center, who spoke on "The Association Self-Audit Program, " and Gary Fetgatter, CAE, of the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association who presented "Using the Internet to Make Your Association Invaluable To Your Members."
The highlight of the meeting was the announcement and demonstration of the new NAIFA/Codewriters Project by Codewriters President Howard Leshner. This new service is a dynamic, Internet-based tool that allows associations to connect with the NAIFA national database and update member records, send broadcast email to association members and print mailing labels, as well as provide associations with their own user-friendly, easy-to-administer websites.
Finally, the 2000 Association Executives Conference was a time for attendees to celebrate as the year 2000 marked the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Association Executives Advisory Council as an official adjunct to the NAIFA federation. The theme for the celebration was "Lighting the Way Through Association Management," reflecting both the contributions that NAIFA state and local association executives have made to the federation, as well as the continued role that executives will play in the future.
The 2001 Association Executives Conference will be held September 6-8, 2001, in Salt Lake City, Utah. In order to encourage and provide assistance to associations, NAIFA offers a $150.00 per diem payment to all associations that send their executive to the conference.Other articles from The NAIFA Convention and Career Conference:
