By Jim Edwards, Director, NAIFA Communications

Last year, NAIFA introduced a new way to register for its annual Convention and Career Conference that was faster and easier for members than faxing or mailing their applications—online registration.

NAIFA is making even better use of the Internet to make registration for the 2002 NAIFA Convention and Career Conference in Charlotte, N.C., as easy as possible. This year’s convention website, at www.naifa.org/charlotte2002, includes a more user-friendly form that lets you register for the convention, along with the educational workshops and ticketed events of your choice. As with last year’s website, a separate link also allows you to book your hotel room online.

If you move your cursor over the navigation bar on the left side of the Web page, you will see additional registration choices. NAIFA has taken online registration a step further, adding forms to give you the opportunity to volunteer in Charlotte.

Help wanted—and needed
The call for volunteers is nothing new, but allowing volunteers to sign up online is. NAIFA relies on the support of volunteers to make every convention a success. Each year, hundreds of NAIFA members, as well as their guests and spouses, dedicate an hour or two of their time to volunteer at the convention.

In the past, they had to complete a form, then mail or fax it to NAIFA headquarters. This year, volunteers can simply click on “volunteer” on the Web page. The form that pops up requires a minimal amount of personal information and includes those areas where you can help: credentialing voting delegates, registration, information, program and operations support, and the resource marketplace.

When filling out the online form, indicate your top two preferences, and if you are available to work on Saturday. Then click on “submit,” and a NAIFA representative will be in touch with further details.

These online forms are available for your convenience. If you prefer faxing or mailing the forms, you may still do so. The convention and registration forms were included in the Convention and Career Conference brochure sent with your April issue of Advisor Today.

You can also get copies of the convention and hotel forms in the “frequently asked questions” area of NAIFA’s new convention website.
